Title: Come at Me by Closer
Fandom: Avengers
Pairing: Tony/Pepper/Steve
Categories: friendship, drama, virgin
Length: ~27,000 words
Warnings: n/a

Review:
After the movie, Tony and Pepper adopt Steve. It starts as friendship, but...

I adore the characterizations in this story. Everyone is spot-on and real, but Closer does an especially good job with Tony, Pepper, and Bruce, all of whom are layered and wonderful -- it's easy to see why Steve would want these people to be his friends. All of the relationships, be they romantic or platonic, are unique and distinct and lovely to read. A relaxing, peaceful exploration of the development of an OT3.

Title: If You're Gone by sahiya
Fandom: White Collar
Pairing: Elizabeth/Neal/Peter
Categories: angst, hurt/comfort
Length: ~31,000 words
Warnings: n/a

Review:
When Elizabeth gets a great career opportunity in San Francisco, she and Peter leave. Meanwhile, Neal is reassigned to Diana.

This fic is chock full of the most lovely pining as Neal tries to cope with the departure of Elizabeth and Peter, while adapting to his new life with Diana as a handler. And while that pining is delightful to read, I have to admit what I love most about it is the friendship that develops between Neal and Diana. It's different than the one between him and Peter, but it's a great relationship and one that is a delight to read.

If you're a fan of Diana and/or of pining, this is the fic for you.

Title: Odd Jobs Series by Betty and Emerald Woman
Fandom: Leverage
Pairing: Parker/Hardison, Parker/Hardison/Eliot
Categories: humor, case file, favorite
Length: ~18,000 words
Warnings: That rating is for one (IMO, over the top) scene of violence in The Cat-Burglar Job

Review:
When Parker decides that it's time to express her interest to Hardison, she goes to Eliot for help. (I'm so sorry, Eliot.)

The first story in this series, The Underwire Job, is far and away my favorite Leverage story of all time. Parker and Eliot are hysterical as they undertake the mission of Getting Hardison's Attention, especially Eliot, who is participating under protest (and, whenever possible, partially drunk). This story never fails to make me smile.

The other two stories in the series are also good, but not quite as flawless as The Underwire Job (I have to skip over that scene mentioned in the warning, as it makes me queasy, and House Rules is more a vignette than a story). Still, they're an enjoyable and satisfying extension of the universe and it's always fun to see the whole team go on a mission, as they do in The Cat-Burglar Job.

Title: Proverbial Trees by unadrift
Fandom: Haven
Pairing: Audrey/Nathan/Duke
Categories: angst, drama
Length: ~10,000 words
Warnings: set early Season 2, so inherently AU

Review:
Partially due to a few troubling incidents, Nathan, Audrey, and Duke get it on. And then Nathan freaks. Because he's Nathan.

I'm always a fan of the path to true love being rocky and full of potholes, and there's no bigger pothole than Nathan finding himself caught up in a (rather successful, actually) threesome. If you're a fan of denial stories and/or someone being dense (but ultimately finding a happy ending), give this one a shot.

Title: Perfect Beautiful Good by OnYourMark
Fandom: White Collar
Pairing: Neal/Peter/Elizabeth
Categories: romance, drama
Length: ~16,000 words
Warnings: n/a

Review:
From the author: "Neal Caffrey doesn't know it, but he's probably the best thing that ever happened to Peter and Elizabeth's sex life."

Sometimes you just want a straight-up, well-written story where three people figure out that they love each other, and then figure out how to make it happen (though, strictly speaking, most of the latter work is done by Elizabeth). If you are in the mood for a slow burn romance with a dash of trust issues and some rather smoking sex scens, give this one a shot.

Perfect Beautiful Good
Last one for today (probably).

Title: Lucky in Love by belmanoir
Fandom: Due South
Pairing: Fraser/Vecchio/Kowalski
Categories: AU, harlequin, fluff, casefile, angst
Length: ~26,000 words
Warnings: n/a

Review:
While undercover, a drunk Ray Kowalski bets his partner, Ray Vecchio, in a game of poker. And loses. Fortunately he was playing a Canadian. AU in which Fraser hasn't met the Rays yet.

I love so much about this fic, from the fact that the focal point in the love triangle is Vecchio to the way belmanoir neatly ties in bits of canon with her AU. What I love most of all, however, is the fact that she opted for first season Fraser: aggressive, practical, and highly competent, while still being idealistic. He's my absolute favorite Fraser and doesn't show up that often in fic, so seeing him in this fic made my day. Mix in some smut, some jealousy, and a whole lot of miscommunication, and you have a fabulous Harlequin fic.

Title: Magnetic by Aria
Fandom: Due South
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski/Vecchio
Categories: post-canon, angst, casefile
Length: ~20,700 words
Warnings: police procedure as accurate as in canon (which is to say, not accurate at all)

Review:
After the adventure, Kowalski comes back to Chicago with the understanding that Fraser will be following as soon as he can arrange a transfer back to the Consulate. Only when Kowalski arrives, he finds that Vecchio is back as well.

I understand that there are a lot of Due South threesome fics where both Vecchio and Kowalski are focused on Fraser (though I have to admit I haven't found many of those stories myself). This fic is rather unique in that it *seems* like the Rays are focused on Fraser, but the real issue is that the Rays are focused on each other and *want* to be focused on Fraser. It's an interesting dynamic that causes lots of issues until everyone finally gets their ass in gear and *talks* to each other. Add to that some good writing with a few absolutely great lines as well as two very distinct Rays and you have a solid, satisfying FKV fic.

Title: Marriage a Trois by Sorrel
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes
Pairing: Holmes/Watson/Mary
Categories: angst, post-canon, hurt/comfort
Length: ~33,000 words
Warnings: n/a

Review:
Mary always knew that to be married to John she'd have to learn to accept Sherlock. She just didn't realize what accepting Sherlock truly meant.

While I deeply appreciate the fact that the Sherlock Holmes fandom has mostly refrained from female-character bashing, most gen and slash (and even threesome!) authors tend to push Mary aside or even ignore her outright. Which makes this fic such a unique and precious gem: not only does Sorrel embrace Mary and show her as a fully articulated, intelligent, and interesting woman, she does so using Mary's POV.

The story itself is less a Mary/John or Holmes/Watson story and more a Mary/Sherlock story, because for the threesome to truly work, Mary and Sherlock have to do more than just get along. The end result is a magnificent slow-building romance featuring a wonderful female protagonist. A very satisfying and enjoyable read.
